Thasos Greek Taverna

Thasos Restaurant is named after the Greek island in the northeastern part of the Aegean Sea. It is famous for its historic, archeological landmarks and local cuisine of traditional dishes. “Thasos” was the first inhabitant of the island of Thasos, after whom the island was named. Some ancient poets and writers refer to Thasos as “Aeria” for its cool summer breeze, “Aethria” for its clear sky, “Chrisi” for the gold of its goldmines, or “Seashore of Demetra” for the rich and exquisite fruits.

Dining at Thasos brings the Greek cuisine and hospitality to you. Winner of Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence, they are passionate about their food and wines, and provide a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Sophia Mylona, co-owner of Thasos Greek Taverna in Fort Lauderdale"Greeks love white and Greeks love to have fun," said Sophia Mylona, the Greek born co-owner of Thasos. "We give guests the opportunity to experience our food, atmosphere and beautiful décor of the white Greek style building and interior designed by a Greek architect. The cut outs in the walls and the all white building are reminiscent of the homes along the hillsides of Greece.

With a Masters Degree in Nutrition, Mylona stresses the importance of Thasos' foods made from fresh ingredients. "Our main focus to use all fresh ingredients, not premade or frozen. All of our appetizers, entrees and desserts are made here on the premises…. it is food with no regrets". Thasos imports Olive Oils, Vinegars and other ingredients from Greece to give their culinary selections a purely authentic Greek taste which is difficult to duplicate.

Thasos is open daily for lunch and dinner, has a cocktail hour with drink specials and Sunday Brunch with bottomless Sangria, Mimosas, Champagne and Bloody Marys. Thasos Greek Taverna is located at 3330 E. Oakland Park Blvd. near A1A. For information, call 954-200-6006 or visit
